#MemberMonday: Peter Hogya

Welcome back to our blog!

Congratulations on getting through the first week of the New Year! We hope your first week was as productive and exciting as ours!

This week we would like to introduce a crucial member of the MassVaxx team, Peter Hogya.

Peter joined the MassVaxx project as part of the SIIM Hackathon and has since enlisted the aid of the RIT Simone Center through the Innovation Fellowship Program. Peter is currently volunteering as the Lead of Business Development and also works on software development by scoping out problem areas.

Peter is a student at Rochester Institute of Technology. He will be graduating in May 2021 with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and minors in Philosophy and Math.

We asked Peter a few questions about being involved with MassVaxx...

Q: What have you been involved in on MassVaxx?

A: "I adjust to what needs to get done, so a bit of everything. I usually end up tackling the new areas where we lack expertise."

Q: What’s the most challenging part of working with MassVaxx?

A: "Keeping track of all the things that are going on."

Q: What is your favorite part about being involved here?

A: "I like working as part of a team. It’s always more fun. I really like that I’m getting software development experience, business development experience, practice with the cloud, and am able to help with COVID simultaneously. I recently read something in Jung’s Man and His Symbols about the importance of developing habits that satisfy multiple needs simultaneously. I don’t think this is quite what he meant, but it’s still a neat trick."

Q: What is one skill you're working on or one thing you've learned while being a part of MassVaxx?

A: "Rapidly developing software solutions to solve specific problems. The nature of software development is changing very quickly as a result of workflow centralization and optimization in the cloud. It’s beginning to become much simpler to develop software solutions so ideation and application are consequently becoming more valuable."

Q: Where is the first place you will travel post-COVID?

A: "It’d be nice to visit my new friends in Wisconsin, but it sounds like everyone is going to be leaving for a bit."

Q: What has been a non-work related "win" of yours during COVID?

A: "I got to work on another COVID related project for the UN, that was pretty cool."

Thank you Peter for your dedication and hard work!
